Uma Gopinath is the Chief Information Officer for Metrolinx in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she shares her passion for technology and commitment to building a transformed Innovation and Information Technology (I&IT) team.
Having worked across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Canada, Uma’s expertise lies in transforming IT structures and integrating intelligent solutions. Her diverse experience includes roles in transportation, retail, telecommunications, financial services, and IT consulting.
A Chartered Director title from The Directors College at McMaster University shows Uma’s commitment to corporate governance. She actively shares her knowledge and experiences by engaging with non-profit organizations, furthering the growth and development of the community. Her leadership prowess led to her nomination as a finalist for the CIO of the Year 2023 by Toronto’s InspireCIO. She was also awarded the CI/TO Award of the year 2023 by the Women in IT group for Canada.
A staunch supporter of diversity and inclusion, Uma employs EDI principles to achieve outstanding results. Her efforts in promoting an inclusive tech environment earned her the title “Tech Diversity Goddess” from Generative AI.
A mentor and connector at heart, Uma’s thirst for learning is evident in her reading habits. Her love for food, travel, and storytelling culminated in a book recounting her family’s tales. She’s currently penning a second one, focusing on cherished family recipes.
